Sweden - Route 2 - Southwest Sweden Gothenburg
The Swedish south-west coast scores with endless sandy beaches, dune landscapes and numerous historic towns. Here you can also expect probably the best seafood in the world.
This is what awaits you on this route:
The route starts at First Camp Råå Vallar outside Helsingborg and offers a beautiful view over the Öresund. We drive directly to Helsingborg, where we visit Sofiero Castle and Gardens just outside. The garden is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. Continuing towards Halmstad north of Ängelholm we take the coastal road towards Torekov, where we can then spend the night at First Camp Torekov-Båstad and visit the small picturesque village of Torekov.
We continue towards Båstad, where we visit Hovs Hallar on the way. The reserve is a highly interesting geological area and its impressive cliffs are home to a variety of seabirds. It is worth stopping for lunch in the tennis village of Båstad. From here we continue towards Halmstad where we spend the night in one of the three First Camp sites. By the way, all three are beautiful. Hagön-Halmstad,Tylösand-Halmstad or Karlstorp-Halmstad are the choices.
At the seaside in Halmstad we can visit the sandy beaches, the dunes and the hotel Tylösand, owned by the famous singer and songwriter Per Gessle of the world famous band Roxette. We continue towards Falkenberg and in Tvååker, just before Varberg we reach via the inland road, Åkulla Bokskogar and Öströö Fårfarm. Definitely worth seeing.
From here it’s back to the E6 freeway to Varberg and on to Åsa. Beautiful nature and friendly Peter at Åsa Camping and Havsbad with its unique sandy beach await us and invite us to spend the night. Around Åsa we must visit and explore the castle Tjolöholm, before we continue towards Gothenburg and Partille Ställplats. Once here, we must explore Lisebergs Amusement Park, Paddan Sightseeing Boats, Botanical Garden, Feskekörka and other sights in Gothenburg. We also enjoy the best seafood and shellfish in the world. (at least that’s what the locals say)
From Gothenburg we head south again to Varberg. Here we visit Varberg Fortress and follow the coastal road to First Camp Björkäng-Varberg with its wide sandy beaches. The next day we follow the coastal road to Halmstad and then the E6 towards Helsingborg and First Camp Råå Vallar-Helsingborg, where the route ends.
