Limitless Franconian motorhome tour
This is what awaits you on this route:
- German-German history
- Palaces and castles
- Relaxation in the Therme Natur Bad Rodach
This is what awaits you on this route:
The tour starts in Bad Rodach at the largest RV park in the Coburg RV park. Rennsteig: at the Thermenaue RV park, nestled in the rolling hills of the Rodach Valley. It is definitely worth staying a night or two longer here, because as the name suggests, it is located directly at ThermeNatur in Bad Rodach. On more than 1,000 m² of water, you can relax here in the comfortably warm healing water. Maybe after a hike through the idyllic Rodachtal with its beautiful, untouched nature?
The landmark of the city of our next stop is not only recognizable after a few kilometers from Bad Rodach, but also during the entire stay from the parking space: the Vesteblick motorhome parking space lives up to its name. A visit to the “Franconian Crown” is a must for every visitor to the Vestestadt Coburg! A relaxed stroll through the courtyard garden is a real treat. Once at the top, there is a fantastic all-round view of the entire Coburg.Rennsteig region. After descending through the Hofgarten, it is also worth visiting the Schlossplatz square with Ehrenburg Castle and the cafés and restaurants in Coburg city center are a wonderful place to stroll.
The next point of contact is the motorhome parking space in Neustadt bei Coburg. In the Bavarian doll town, the toy paradise begins in Coburg.Rennsteig! A visit is particularly interesting when the annual International Puppet Festival takes place, which the partner cities of Neustadt bei Coburg and Sonneberg organize together. In the Museum for the German Toy Industry you can learn everything about the development of toy production in the region, but also around the world. Anyone interested in the history of the former German-German border, which is crossed after continuing, should also pay a visit to the Inner German Border Educational Center.
At the Burned Bridge today only a sign indicates that the twin towns of Neustadt bei Coburg and Sonneberg, which have now almost grown together, were once separated here. It goes on to the toy paradise, because after checking in at the motorhome parking lot at the SonneBad, you shouldn’t miss a visit to the German Toy Museum with over 5,000 toys. The exhibition group “Thuringian Kirmes”, which was presented at the 1910 World Exhibition, is particularly interesting. You can buy a small souvenir of the tour to take home from one of the factory outlets. If you want to know the second traditional craft, you shouldn’t miss a detour to the Rennsteig. The dazzling world of glass art is just 20 km away in Lauscha, the cradle of glass Christmas tree decorations. Glass is still produced here today and glass artists conjure up filigree pieces of jewelry in their glass tubes.
Our last destination is finally Heldburg, from a distance you can see the Heldburg fortress there enthroned on its rock above the city. A walk up to the fairytale castle is rewarded with a wonderful view. A delicious piece of cake and a warm coffee on the terrace of the Helene Castle Restaurant is the perfect way to end the tour.

This time, however, in the Bad Colberg district of Heldburg, in Thuringia's Terrassentherme, which impresses with three thermal and thermal brine springs.
