You will start in the idyllic north of the country and then slowly move south along the coast - past world-famous wine regions, beautiful sandy beaches and lively cities. Each stop on our trip offers its own highlights: impressive fortresses, picturesque old towns, extensive beaches and protected dune landscapes.
Whether hiking along historically significant trails, relaxing on pristine beaches or enjoying local specialties - every stage of this route promises unique experiences that will make campers' hearts beat faster. This is what awaits you on this route:
We start our journey in picturesque Caminha. The relaxed atmosphere of the Orbitur Caminha campsite welcomes you here. This charming city offers impressive historical and cultural sights, such as the Fortaleza de Valença, an impressive fortress that combines history and architectural splendor.
Our route continues to Viana do Castelo. Camping Orbitur Viana do Castelo is the ideal starting point for discovering the beauty of the region. Visit the majestic Monte de Santa Luzia, enjoy the breathtaking views and explore the rich Centro Histórico with its picturesque squares and traditional cafés.
We continue our journey in a southerly direction and reach the Orbitur Angeiras campsite. A must here is the Praia de Matosinhos – a paradise for surfers and sun worshippers. And don’t forget to make a detour to Porto! Stroll through the narrow streets, taste the famous port wine and marvel at the impressive architecture.
Our next destination is the Orbitur Canidelo campsite. Here you can spend the day relaxing by the pool or on the nearby beach. Porto is also not far from here and offers countless cultural treasures and culinary delights.
Continue to the Orbitur São Jacinto campsite, located directly in the fascinating Reserva Natural das Dunas de São Jacinto. Huge sand dunes and untouched coastal landscapes invite you to explore. Also worth seeing is the Ria de Aveiro – a lagoon with picturesque canals that is often referred to as the “Venice of Portugal”.
From here we head for the Orbitur Vagueira campsite. A visit to the colorful houses in Costa Nova is a must, as is the Instagram-worthy photo motif. Relax on the beautiful beaches and end the day in comfort.
Our journey now takes us to Mira Lodge Park. A highlight here is the tranquil and picturesque Barrinha de Mira, a lagoon that is perfect for activities such as kayaking and birdwatching.
The Orbitur Mira campsite is just a short drive away. Here you can enjoy the unspoiled nature and the wide beaches. Enjoy a relaxing day at Praia da Tocha or discover the regional delicacies in the surrounding restaurants.
Our last stop is the Orbitur Gala campsite. From here you can quickly reach the lively town of Figueira da Foz with its huge beach and vibrant nightlife. The historic city of Coimbra is also easily accessible for a day trip – take a stroll through this ancient university city and immerse yourself in its rich history.
