The Fortaleza de Valença is an imposing fortress located on a hill above the city of Valença and offers a fascinating journey into the history of Portugal. With its thick stone walls, bastions and battlements, the fortress is an impressive example of military architecture. The fortress was originally built in the 13th century and extensively reinforced in the 17th century.
