For one week, the unique riverside stage of the Arena in der Salz in the heart of Bad Soden-Salmünster becomes the venue for a special music festival.

The 7th Water Games are a very special cultural event at a very special location – the Arena in der Salz in the heart of Bad Soden-Salmünster. Here, festival visitors and musicians share the river stage on both sides directly on the banks of the Salz. The irrepressible enjoyment of the music of well-known regional rock bands, rousing brass ensembles and soloists quickly spreads to the audience.

It fits perfectly into the anniversary year “50 years of Bad Soden-Salmünster”: This year’s water games start on Thursday, July 11, with three hours of danceable rock, pop and party hits, played routinely and with a lot of heart and soul by “NEXUS” – a band that has achieved real cult status in the region over the past 50 years. On Friday, July 12, the seven enthusiastic brass players and the drummer of “BiertranSPORTler” will bring an ultimate mix of self-arranged titles of popular party and chart hits plus sophisticated compositions of current brass music formations to the stage of the Arena in der Salz. Five passionate musicians, an unmistakable sound – on Saturday evening (July 13), “DocRock” is guaranteed to captivate the audience again with an explosive mix of rock classics from the 60s to the 80s.

On Sunday afternoon (July 14), all fans of brilliant big band music will get their money’s worth. The program starts at 2 p.m. in the shade of the old spa gardens in Bad Sodener Badestraße with the regular orchestra of the Cäcilia Bad Soden music association and classical brass band music. The jazz-loving musicians of the big band “Route 66” will take over the baton from 4 pm. Their repertoire includes jazz and big band classics in a happy sound as well as new rock and jazz music.

The Evening of Talents (July 15) has been providing special goosebump moments for many years. No matter how old, no matter what style of music, no matter whether with or without experience in the limelight: “Talents on stage” – arranged and cast by Dennis Korn, supported by maxworx – offers talented singers/songwriters a stage. “Listen to your head” by Roxette or “I will remember” by TOTO. Everyone has them in their ears. These and other well-known songs form the incomparable musical “shake” of the musicians’ collective around Simon Nicholls, Silke and Juli Knoll on Tuesday, July 16, for a relaxed summer evening with wine and snacks on the salt. As in previous years, the final chord of the water games belongs to classical music. Music director Jaroslav Bilik and the South Hesse Chamber Orchestra have put together a potpourri of cheerful and lively pieces of classical music for Wednesday, July 17.

The concert evenings start at 7 p.m., except Sunday. With a cool drink, fresh beer or exquisite wine in your hand accompanied by hearty delicacies, every festival evening by the water and Sunday afternoon will be an unforgettable one.

Bad weather option: If the weather doesn’t play along on one day, the nearby Spessart FORUM at the Kurpark becomes an atmospheric festival lounge. Admission to all events is free.
