Every year at Whitsun there is a reason for a short break in the town: at the Brunnenfest, which has been celebrated in Bad Sooden for centuries, salt boiling is demonstrated just like in the old days! A parade and culinary delights surrounded by magnificent half-timbered houses are also part of this local festival.

Salt has shaped the history of our town for over 1000 years, whether as a valuable commodity or the basis for health and wellness vacations. Reason enough to celebrate a festival of thanks for the brine springs. It takes almost 3 hours for the brine water to evaporate and leave behind salt. For this purpose, a faithful replica of the original vat and salt pan was built in front of the historic salt office in Bad Sooden.
