Like hardly any other region in Germany, the region has an extraordinarily high density of historical treasures. Over 3,000 archaeological sites are known so far and testify to the rich historical heritage of the Prignitz. Significant finds from the Central Archaeological Sites are archaeological highlights of national and even international rank. A total of 6 archaeological sites have been defined as outstanding in the Prignitz.
