The picturesque town of Óbidos is an excellently preserved example of a medieval town. Nestled within ancient city walls, Óbidos offers a labyrinth of narrow cobblestone streets, flower-bedecked houses and charming little squares. The majestic castle, which today serves as a pousada (luxury hotel), towers high above the city. Particularly noteworthy are the annual Medieval Festival and the Chocolate Festival, which attract visitors from all over the world.
