Fortified town of Concarneau

A medieval fortress town on an island, known for its quaint harbor. Picture © Hape Bolliger / pixelio.de
Concarneau, often referred to as the "Blue City", impresses with its Ville Close (closed city), a completely walled old town on an island that is connected to the mainland by a bridge. The harbor full of fishing boats and yachts, the narrow streets full of boutiques and cafés, as well as the protective walls built by the former inhabitants for defense, tell stories from past centuries. Concarneau offers an authentic experience of Breton history and maritime tradition. Picture © Hape Bolliger / pixelio.de
