Plattenburg moated castle

The oldest preserved moated castle in Northern Germany. The "Medieval Spectacle" takes place every year in June at the beginning of summer.
The Plattenburg is not only Northern Germany's only preserved moated castle, it also gave the municipality its name. Our guests experience an extensive region with wonderful bike paths. The Berlin-Wilsnack pilgrimage route runs here and the bishop's tour also makes a stop at the Plattenburg. The important landscape park of Hoppenrade, which was created in 1847 according to plans by Eduard Neide, a pupil of Lenné, is a natural experience. In Klein Leppin, in the FestSpielhaus (a former pigsty) at "Dorf macht Oper", amateurs and established artists will delight their audiences together.
