Relaxation tour through Coburg.Rennsteig
This is what awaits you on this route:
- ThermeNatur Bad Rodach
- Veste Heldburg with German Castle Museum
This is what awaits you on this route:
Your tour starts at the premium pitch “Thermenaue” in Bad Rodach: In a prime location directly at the spa area and within sight of the ThermeNatur Bad Rodach, 70 comfort pitches await you in the middle of greenery. Here it is definitely worth staying a few nights longer! The new facility with supply and disposal station, power distribution boxes, sanitary building, washing and drying room and a dishwashing room as well as covered terrace and bread service leaves nothing to be desired. Daily from 11:00 a.m. you can enjoy a Franconian bratwurst at the ThermenGrill located directly at the campsite. A delicious dinner is also available not far from the campsite: indulge in regional Franconian cuisine in the spa restaurant, in “Andi’s Frankenstube” or in the inn “Zum lustigen Kegler”.
A visit to ThermeNatur promises pure relaxation. The Bad Rodach healing water flows to the earth’s surface from two underground springs at a temperature of 32 °C to 34 °C. More than 1,000 m² of water area with two indoor pools, one therapy pool and three outdoor pools full of soothingly warm and primordially healthy mineral water with a flow channel, active swimming pool, steam bath, Kneipp facilities, purification bath, tepidarium and bubble jets offer pure relaxation. Just feel good and take a break from everyday life! The 5-star premium sauna world “Earth Fire” combines the forces of nature to create an extraordinary sensory experience. In the earth sauna, infusion sauna, mound sauna, Finnish sauna and BioOasis you can enjoy the peace and quiet from everyday life. The newly built tree top walk is a real gem of relaxation after a hot sauna session. A variety of treatments ensure an all-round wellness experience: from classic back massages and fragrant aroma massages to hot stone massages and Ayurveda treatments, there is something for everyone.
We continue with the motorhome in the direction of the Bad Rodacher Georgenberg. The campsite in Heldburg, 10 kilometers away, is beautifully situated with a view of Veste Heldburg. Here, the relaxed climb up to the time-honored building is definitely worth it, because at the top you are rewarded with an incredible view of the surrounding landscape, in some cases even as far as the neighboring Veste Coburg. The movie “The Fairy Tale Castle” was filmed here in the 1960s in the GDR – a title that definitely does the castle justice. In addition, the German Castle Museum, which provides impressive information about the development and function of castles over the course of time, has been located in the Veste Heldburg for several years. On a walk into the old town of Heldburg you will discover beautifully restored half-timbered houses as well as a stop at the old town gate in the “Torschenke”.
Would you prefer to stay at the pitch in one of the two towns, but still visit the highlights of the other? No problem! The “Heimathopper”, a bus line connecting Ebern and Bad Rodach, also stops in Heldburg. Every Saturday you can get to all the sights every three hours.

You can also visit the ThermeNatur Bad Rodach by bike. The 2-thermal bike tour connects the spa as a round trip on 50 kilometers with the medieval towns of Ummerstadt and Seßlach. In Seßlach you can not only admire the traditional half-timbered houses, but also enjoy authentic regional cuisine. Insider tip for beer lovers: The "Rote Ochsen" offers the "Kommunbräu", a beer brewed on site according to an old recipe in the Kommunbrauhaus.
