Sweden - Route 3 - West Sweden Smögen

Experience western Sweden from its most beautiful side! Small fishing villages, historic towns and buildings, as well as the vast, unspoiled nature around Lake Vänern awaits you.

The route starts in Åsa Camping and Havsbad and goes through Gothenburg.

We follow the E6 north, to Stenungsund and the island route via Tjörn and Orust. Here we take the car ferry to Lysekil. In Lysekil we spend the night at First Camp Sivik. Not to be missed are Lysekil and Havets Hus - the famous salt water aquarium.

Our way leads us further to the Nordens Ark Zoo past in the direction of Smögen / Kungshamn. We always drive towards the island of Smögen (road bridge) and visit the famous promenade "Smögenbryggan" there. We then follow the coastal road and pass the small fishing villages of Hunnebostrand, Bovallstrand, Hamburgsund and Fjällbacka (home of Ingrid Bergman and author Camilla Läckberg). Arrival is in Grebbestad. Here we follow the signs to First Camp Edsvik-Grebbestad and enjoy the wild, romantic Swedish west coast.

The next day we plan a visit to the world famous Rock Carving in Vitlycke / Tanumshede, on our way through Bullaren (surroundings) towards Karlstad. On the way we can stop at the aqueduct Håverud in Dalslan.
